Definition
Student Engagement is the systematic study and design of conditions, interventions and safeguards affecting children or families within education and schooling.
Why this matters
Children have evolving capabilities and limited power over many systems affecting them. Errors in student engagement can create developmental, relational, educational, health or safety consequences that persist.
Research questions
Which AI-supported learning experiences increase meaningful engagement rather than superficial activity?
Hypotheses
Choice, relevance and adaptive challenge will predict persistence better than rewards or conversational novelty.
